Not a Consumer Reporting Agency. California People Search is not a consumer reporting agency as defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Information found here or through a linked third-party tool may not be used for decisions involving credit, employment, insurance, tenant screening, or any other FCRA-regulated purpose.
How Current Is Information
California agencies and county offices can change portals, fees, hours, and request methods with little notice. Index entries may be corrected, court cases may be sealed or expunged, and ownership records change over time. Reasonable efforts are made to keep the content current, but accuracy and completeness at any particular moment are not guaranteed. Confirm any record directly with its custodian before relying on it.
No Legal Advice
Nothing provided by California People Search is legal advice. Descriptions of California record sources and access practices cannot replace advice from a licensed attorney.
Use Records Lawfully
Public access supports government transparency and does not authorize harm. Never use information reached through California People Search to stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or injure anyone. Misuse may violate California or federal law and also breaches the Terms of Use. California Megan's Law registry data, for example, is published for public protection, and improper use may create criminal or civil liability.
Outside Search Providers
Some pages refer to or display search tools supplied by outside companies. California People Search does not control their results, prices, availability, or treatment of submitted data. No result from those tools is guaranteed to be accurate, and it is not an FCRA-compliant consumer report.
External Website Links
Links may lead to California county recorder indexes, superior court portals, assessor and GIS viewers, elections offices, CDPH Vital Records, licensing boards, or library collections. Each external site controls its own content and availability; California People Search is not responsible for either.
Government Records Stay With Custodians
No government record, court file, vital certificate, property roll, or voter file is hosted by California People Search. Those items remain with state agencies, county recorders or clerk-recorders, assessors, superior courts, and other official custodians. Requests to obtain, verify, correct, seal, or remove a record must go to the office that maintains it. General agency access may fall under the California Public Records Act, Government Code ยง 7920.000 et seq., while court, vital, voter, and protected records follow additional rules.
